Teaser Week Day 2 Sports and Leisure

What is a simile?
A simile is a figure of speech, when you compare one thing to another.

Similes:

As we were walking up Rangitoto, the students were so parched that their skin were dry as a bone.

As I was at the gym, I realized that my muscles are as solid as the ground I stood on.

Trying to move me is impossible because, I weigh as much as a plane.

Once a group of teachers entered the room, everyone was as silent as a turtle.

Algebraic Equations

16 October 2019
WALT: Solve algebraic equations
SC: To be successful I must…
  • Rewrite the equation in a linear form.
  • Solve the equation from back to front using the inverse.
  • Substitute the value of the variable to the original equation and check the answer.
     -5
5n +5 = 45 - 5
5n = 40
5       5
n = 8
      +3
y/6 - 3 = -11 + 3
y/6 = -8
y/6 x 6 = -8 x 6
y = -48

4(g - 1) = 24/4
4
g - 1 = 6
   +1
g - 1 = 6 + 1
g = 7

V + 9 = 0 x 15
15 x 15

     -9
V + 9 = 0 - 9
v = -9
                      - 8
-40 - 8 = 12x + 8
-48÷12 = 12x
                12
-4 = x

      +3
-2p - 3 = -19 + 3
-2p = -16
-2       -2
p = 8

13 x 2 = w - 14
                  2    x 2

                    +14
26 + 14 = w - 14
40 = w

         -1
36 -1 = 1 + 7a
35 = 7a
7       7
5 = a

               +11
-9 + 11 = -11 + b/8
2 = b/8
2 x 8 = b/8 x 8
16 = b

Technology Wood

Image result for wooden phone holder

I have chosen to make a "phone holder" for my phone. I think that this is the best choice because, I have nothing that is able to support my phone while I watch videos on it. Placing my phone on the "phone holder" will support my phone while I watch videos on it at my house. For this project I will have to consider finding the correct measurement for my phone.

BEDMAS

WALT - solve maths equations using the order of operation rule. (BEDMAS)

  1. 8 + (8+2) x 9 - 9 =
8 + 10 x 9 - 9 =
8 + 90 = 98 - 9 =
89

     2. 8 - 1 x 9 ÷10 =
8 - 9 ÷ 10 =
8 - 0.9

     3. 8 x (9-5)-43=
8 x 4 = 32 - 64 =
-32

     4. (10-6) x 4 ÷ 9 =
4 x 4 = 16 ÷ 9 =
1R7 = 1 7/9

     5. 42 ÷ 7+6 =
16 ÷ 7 = 2 2/7 + 6 =
8 2/7

      6. 6 + 42 ÷ 2 - 15 =
6 + 21 = 27 - 15 =
