Composting and Worm farming

Picture

This term my group of friends and I made this project. Our inquiry investigation question was, how to compost in the winter. First, we used the internet to research our topic.  Then we constructed this project. I brought the small, green bucket and filled it with leaves, grass and bark. Jaiden and Javarn painted the box blue to represent the bright sky. Iraia grabbed a batch of paper napkins, one piece of cardboard and white paper. We all drew the snowflakes in the background and we even added a little snowman, but our teacher told us that we had to make the snowflakes 3D. The snowflakes are cut out of the picture, but you could see the edge of it on the top right corner. We used a small bucket, paper napkins, a cardboard box, a piece of cardboard and a piece of white paper. The easiest part of our project was the painting part, because Javarn spoke to me and said, “It only took five minutes!” The most challenging part of this project was making the snowflakes. As I said before, our teacher told us that we had to make it 3D, which was pretty difficult. It helped me understand more, because it was more realistic. The next thing I would like to investigate, is the solar system.

Prototec T3W10

Today, my class and I concluded the term with our last prototec test and we are all excited for the school holidays. The result I received on prototec stage 8 timed was 100%, and I am overjoyed with my results this term. From the beginning of the term I got 97% and I have progressed and got 100%. I focused so hard this term that, I got 100% since week 6 and I have got this score constantly up to week 10, which is today. I believe that I am above the curriculum level for a year 6 student.

Robot Art

Last Thursday, our substitute teacher Mrs Kirby, did a piece of art with us using bright colours. We were inspired by the famous artist Karl Apple. We had to draw robots using different types of shapes, like a pentagon, a hexagon, quadrilateral shapes and other types of shapes. We then had to colour in the pictures and thereafter, we had to dye the picture in blue or green dye.

Using Hot and Cold Colours

This week, my teacher was on release on Thursday and we had to get a substitute teacher, her school name was Mrs Kirby. After lunch time, Mrs Kirby did a piece of art with our class and the piece of art we did was, using hot and cold, bright colours. She explained to us that, we had to draw horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines form one edge of the paper to the other edge. Next, we had a choice to use the cold colours inside the bird and hot colours in the background, or we could do the complete opposite. For every shape we make inside of the bird, then we have to colour that shape in one colour. When you move on to another shape inside the bird, apply the same thing but not in the same colour. We were inspired by the famous artist Karl Apple.

Prototec T3W9

I have remained on the score on stage 8 timed, but I still got 100 percent. I got the same score because, like always I stay focus and ignore others when they attempt to talk to me. If I will have to get 100 percent consistently, then I will have to work harder and focus more.

I Got 100%!

Today is the first day of maori language week and in my class, our teacher set up a couple of maori activities we could do. The first game I played was, addition in maori and I found a little bit challenging because I am not maori. The second game I played was naming fruits in maori, I found it the same as the first game.

Tongan Language Week

Today was the final day of tongan language week. All of the tongan children in Glen Innes School had to wear the traditional tongan clothes to school. Throughout the week, Ms Tuakoi traveled to every class and taught the basic tongan words, tongans use almost everyday. The words she taught were malo e lelei, malo, fefe hake, saipe malo and many more. In english those words mean, hello, thank you, how are you and I am fine thank you. Today Ms Tuakoi will be taking every class to try out food, that are popular to Tonga.
