Today we are remembering those who died from cancer. Especially those who died during teaching at our school, and those teachers are Siaosi Tongilava and Whae Emily. Those two teachers will always be remembered by our school. I’m not sure that one of my uncle or aunties died from cancer, but if one of them did die from cancer then I’ll be really broken hearted.
I am a Year 8 student at Glen Innes School in Auckland, New Zealand. I am in Room 7 and my teacher is Mrs. Tuakoi.

Maths T3W6 Fraction Game
I was playing a game of matching fractions with decimals, percentages and diagrams. I had matched a fraction with the decimal, the diagram and the percentage and that all showed half. This game was easy for me because I had a good understanding on how to convert a fraction to a decimal, to a diagram and a percentage. Next I would like to learn more advanced games, so it can be more advanced than the other kids when I go college.

Benefits of Composting
Benefits of Composting
I think you are tired of hearing the word compost. This word has become famous at GI school. Well, I firmly believe it is the word to save the world. I will persuade everyone to start composting as the benefits are numerous. I will explain the reasons.
Reason one Compost reduces greenhouse gases.
When we just throw away our food scraps into the landfill, the food scraps cannot decay properly and it will make methane. If the methane gas combines with the air, a hot surface or a spark it will then explode. Just by composting the organic materials it will reduce the discharge of methane gas into the world.
Reason two Compost improves soil quality.
Composting is noted to recreate poor soil just by work of the microorganism. Bacteria and fungi will break down the organic materials and it will create humus. Humus raises the nutrient in the soil and it also helps it keep moist. The food that was grown in composted soil has more nutrients to eat.
Reason three Compost helps clean up contaminated soil.
The words of the EPA are, that as the compost is in action, it was proved that the compost absorbs different smells. It treats volatile organic compounds like warming fuels and explosive. In other words pesticides, wood preservatives, chlorinated and non chlorinated corrupted soils were erased by the compost was in action.
Reason four Compost helps control erosion.
Compost has been proved that it stops erosion on bankments that were parallel to creeks, rivers and lakes. As well as weaken turf loss that was on hillsides, roadsides, golf courses and playing fields.
Lastly reason five Compost makes and saves money.
Water these days are at its superior and the composted soil reduces a product of water that has been absorbed by the plants. Composting can also make pests and plant disease, weakening the need for expensive chemicals and fertilizers. A higher crop of agricultural crops are grown in composted soil. The composted soil equates to many amounts that could be sold. According the EPA state, composting is far more cheaper and it is different to conventional ways to clean contaminated soil.
I hope I've persuade you to start composting. As I was giving my speech I hope you’ve learned something and start composting very soon, malo aupito and thank you.

Hensel and Gretel Ninja Chicks
In a land were two chicks and their papa, and far from their land lived one dangerous fox, one night they had just finished training the art of ninjutsu. Soon the fox decided to chicken nap papa, because he had the urge to eat a piece of chicken. So the two chicks took off and went looking for their papa, following a trail of breadcrumbs and soon they found a cottage made of cornbread. So one chick ran over for one bite, as the chick was nibbling on the cornbread there was one voice inviting the chick inside. But it was a trap the fox locked up the chicken, but luckily her sibling had came saving the day, opening the cell for papa and his sibling, and they locked up the fox for good.

Te Tuhi
Last Tuesday our class got the opportunity to travel to Te Tuhi. As we arrived inside we had to wait for our instructor, and her name was Salome. We did surrealism and the technique was 3D collage and we had to use our imagination to create the piece of art.

Last Thursday Adele, from the heart foundation came to our class to teach us how to eat healthy and the different food groups. By teaching us how to do that we traveled to Pak n save and Adele had planned an activity sheet for us to do while adventuring. As we looking at the products, we had to read the nutrition information and look at the column that speaks, per 100 grams.
